Suspect arrested in $1.5M Bellagio casino heist Posted: 03 Feb 2011 10:32 AM PST Feb 03, 2011 Suspect arrested in $1.5M Bellagio casino heist Las Vegas police arrested the son of a city judge in connection with a $1.5 million heist at Bellagio casino in December, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. The suspect, Anthony Michael Carleo, 29, aka Anthony Assad, was arrested after he allegedly met undercover officers to sell some of the high-value chips taken in the early morning robbery, the newspaper says, quoting law enforcement sources. Carleo was a guest at the hotel at the time of the robbery, the newspaper says. The heist lasted about three minutes, and surveillance video shows the robber, wearing a motorcycle helmet, escaping through the casino lobby. Police say he fled on a motorcycle. After the robbery, the Bellagio said it was discontinuing its $25,000 chips, which were among the loot, giving gamblers until April 22 to redeem them before they become worthless, the Las Vegas Sun reports.
