SPANISH FORT, Ala.—A Spanish Fort firefighter remains in serious condition at USA Medical Center in Mobile following an early-morning collision with a deer on Buzbee Road. Lt. Jason Hadley, 21, was driving his motorcycle home from Thomas Hospital around 2 a.m. when the crash occurred. The second-generation volunteer firefighter works as a medical technician at the Fairhope hospital.

Spanish Fort Fire Rescue Chief Roger Few said thick fog was reported in the area at the time of the crash, but it was not immediately clear if poor visibility was a factor.

"The State Troopers are investigating the accident and will make the determination on causes," Few said, noting Hadley was wearing his helmet at the time of the accident.

Hadley has served in the department since 2006, alongside his father, Rubin.
